**Frequently Asked Questions**
**How do I stop my Dominion Energy service in North Carolina?**
Residential customers can sign in to their account or stop service as a guest online. Small commercial businesses can sign in or register online, while large commercial businesses should call 866-366-4357.
**How much advance notice should I give to stop service?**
Provide as much notice as possible so Dominion Energy can schedule your request for the date you need. Service orders are worked Monday through Friday only (excluding holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
**Do I need to be home when my service is disconnected?**
You don’t need to be home if the meter is accessible and isn’t blocked by fences, trees, shrubs, buildings, or animals. Otherwise, an adult must be available for Dominion Energy personnel to access the meter and get a final reading.
**When will I receive my final bill?**
Your final bill will be issued the business day after Dominion Energy takes the final meter reading.
**What if I have an outstanding balance when stopping service?**
If you have a disconnection notice that expires before the requested disconnection date, you’ll need to pay the amount due. Otherwise, you may pay your current bill and your final bill together.
**What is a temporary service disconnection?**
A temporary disconnection is a safety measure required when performing maintenance or repairs on your property, such as painting, replacing siding, trimming near overhead lines, or working on the panel or fuse box. There is no fee for temporary disconnections.

Call Dominion Energy at 866-366-4357 to schedule a temporary disconnection. Notification is needed several days before the disconnection, with advance notice particularly important in spring or for metro area work.
